'Paris Chic'
Canal house Haarlem
1890 is the year of construction of this building that actually consists of 2 parts. One building used to be a hairdressing salon with a house and the narrow part was a greengrocer in the distant past.
These two buildings have been combined into 1 large house on a quiet canal in the center of Haarlem.
The new owner wanted to renovate the entire building and called in the help of IJzersterk Interior Design. The entire building has been modernized from top to bottom; new kitchen, new wooden floors, all electrical, all walls plastered, cabinets removed, etc. For the interior he wanted a lot of color and an inviting sofa so that was the starting point. The wall covering with traditional Japanese design by Mind the Gap immediately gives the room character and warmth. Colorful tiles were chosen for the floor in the hall.
View over the IJ
This apartment has a sawtooth shape; a long (over 20 meters) sloping wall with windows on one side and the sawtooth on the other. This is a relatively difficult shape to furnish, so IJzersterk Interior Design was asked to make an interior plan. After a number of discussions with the clients, a plan was presented in which the triangle became a subtle starting point. This can be seen in the brass lamp above the dining table, the wall lamps on the wall and the triangles in the large rug. Even the fabric that was chosen to reupholster an armchair (the Orange Slice that the residents had had for years) has a graphic shape with triangles. But because the fabric is light in color, this is not too noticeable.
Amsterdam mansion
This canal house from 1900 near Artis was completely renovated a few years ago. The construction of the building and the layout were excellent and in this case IJzersterk Interior Design could fully focus on the interior and adding their personal style to the home. They love color in their interior and wanted to integrate special lighting. After removing the wallpaper and plasterwork, the brick wall was exposed. A beautiful custom-made lamp by Ontwerpduo was placed on this wall. Soft and round shapes were chosen for the furniture and lighting.
Crayenest
This ‘straightforward’ 80s home has been thoroughly overhauled, with the entire renovation taking about a year.
Our client is starting a new phase in his life here, with a comfortable masculine style and striking details that bend to the new path he has taken. We were given complete freedom with only two wishes; absolutely no white and sufficient places to stay for all the adult children.
We looked for the answer in material, light and colour for both the large spaces and the smaller rooms. As a basis, the entire ground floor has been given a natural stone travertine floor that continues into the terrace. Pronounced colours have been used down to the last detail in furniture, custom cabinets, doors and lighting, which has automatically created a stylish, warm balance. Eye-catchers are the staircase, mosaic tiles in the bathrooms, the beautiful Loupe dining table and the impressive modern veranda.
Lock house
My recent project in the Sluishuis on IJburg was designed in the popular Japandi style. This style is harmonious and functional. The residents, originally from Egypt and coffee lovers, found a perfect balance between aesthetics and comfort in my design.
The apartment, originally delivered as a shell, has been transformed into an oasis of peace with a special coffee corner in the living room. The living room with open kitchen has windows on two sides with a breathtaking view over the IJ. Dark wood has been used for all custom-made cabinets in the apartment, giving it a warm atmosphere.
At IJzersterk Interior Design we strive to realize your dreams, with attention to detail and a unique, personal approach.
Old Bleachery
We recently completely changed a house! The residents wanted to renovate the ground floor with a new kitchen, floor, doors, and furniture.
The house used to be an old bleachery, with high ceilings and thick factory walls. We kept that special character in our design.
The kitchen in particular has changed a lot. Not only the location, but also the design is completely new. We even made a sitting area in the kitchen!
A big difference is also the floor, from wood to a modern cast floor. The lighting was designed by a lighting architect, and that makes the space really special.
Everything is done in a calm, timeless style, exactly as the residents wanted. And we only used good quality materials.
Curious about what we can do for your space? Let us know, we are happy to help!
